The Pottstown School District has reported that the Pottstown Middle School teacher who was charged with aggravated assault of a child over a month ago will not be teaching at the start of the 2013-14 school year, according to The Mercury.
According to John Armato, the Pottstown School District community relations director, “Jared Leimeister has been suspended and will not be in the classroom for the 2013-14 school year.”
Leimeister, of North Coventry, has been an eighth-grade science teacher at the middle school. The Pottstown School District website has added “TBA” next to the position.
Police reported in July that Leimeister allegedly made inappropriate physical contact with an 8-year-old girl who spent some amount of time with him between Oct. 2012 and Feb. 2013.
Police also charged Leimeister with endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors and indecent assault on a person less than 13 years old.
According to court documents, Leimeister is set to appear for his preliminary hearing in front of District Judge James V. DeAngelo in his Chester County District Court on Sept. 19.
