Community Mourns Natalie Marella’s Death

Friends and family remember the life of Marella, whose body was found in a New Hanover field

Loved ones are grieving ,  on the morning of Aug. 29.

Dozens of community members shared their memories of Marella, whose cause of death is still unknown pending toxicology reports, with the media and on social networking sites.

“I will always remember the young, bright-eyed teenage girl who would come to my trailer to hang out,” wrote Shannon Hoppe on Marella’s Facebook wall. “You have always been a big-hearted, out-going, and beautiful young lady. We all have our demons, but you truly struggled with your own.”

Marella, 26, who attended Wissahickon High School, Montgomery County Community College and the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, lived on Forrest Ave in Ambler, near several of her family members.

“The last time I saw her was on Sunday,” Karen Marella, her aunt, told CBS Philly. “She just wanted to know how my twin grandbabies were doing.”

“I always tried to look after you. Now it’s time for you to look after me.  Miss you already,” said Chris Sonetto, Marella’s cousin, who posted a photo of the two as children on Facebook.

Dozens of friends and family wrote memories about Marella through childhood, college, and as recently as this past week, on Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace.

According to her YouTube account, Marella gave birth in 2010 to a daughter, Jade, who passed away two hours after birth.

 “I am so sad to hear the news and my heart aches for your family,” Deb Davies wrote on Marella’s Facebook wall. “Now you are in heaven with Jade and Mia.”

In addition to offering memories and condolences for the family, many comments addressed the mysterious nature of the death, and confusion over what happened.

“I was good friends with her she was really a great person, had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone,” Tracey Concannon told Patch. “I'm really upset and saddened about this and have no idea who could have done such a thing to her.

There has been no information released regarding funeral services for Marella.
