Bomb Scare Closes Township Line Road

The object was determined to be safe early Saturday morning.

Limerick Township Police believe an object that caused a bomb scare at the intersection of Township Line Road and Ridge Pike on Friday night was likely a homemade water filter.

According to an eyewitness, the intersection was closed off around 11 p.m. and a bomb squad, identified by Limerick Police as the Montgomery County Bomb Squad, sent a robot to pick up an unidentified object near the “Welcome to Limerick” sign and took it into the field next to Walgreens on Ridge Pike to examine it.

Limerick Township Police Chief William Albany said police received a call about a  decide that looked like a pipe bomb, and it was rendered safe by the MC Bomb Squad; it is being examined by the bomb squad and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).

“At this time we believe it may be a homemade water filter,” said Albany. “It was not a bomb.”
