NO TURN ON RED

Recently, in Trappe Borough as well as Upper Providence Twp. I have witnessed near miss accidents because drivers think that NO TURN ON RED signs are a suggestion rather than the law.

The Trappe sign is located on the East bound side of Main Street at the Trappe Shopping Center. A vehicle (having the right of way with a left turn arrow), was forced to slam on their breaks. The driver that had the NO TURN ON RED just continued into the shopping center as if he had done nothing wrong.
Of course Trappe Borough has no police force and is policed by the State Police. They will respond to reports of accidents and will take action when they observe a violation. I guess that is all we can expect in Trappe Borough.

In Upper Providence Twp. there are two sets of traffic signals for vehicles leaving the Town Center Shopping Center onto Rt 29 south. On a day last week, a vehicle pulled up to a red light and disregarded the NO TURN ON RED sign. A vehicle with the right of was going south on 29 veered out of the way of the violator.

I have witnessed Upper Providence Police enforcing the NO TURN ON RED violations at both of these intersections and I thank them for their diligence.

I guess that drivers think that the sign is a suggestion and not a law.
If they are caught the fine is substantial
