Meet Our New Local Editor
Brittany Tressler takes the helm of the Perkiomen Valley Patch today
Hi, Patch Readers!
I want to take a second to introduce myself as the new Perkiomen Valley Patch Local Editor.
I have been freelancing over the summer, and started guest editing last week, so I have already talked to many Patch readers and community leaders - I look forward to meeting many more!
Some Information about me:
I was born and raised in the Souderton area, until I went to college at the University of Maryland - College Park. While there, I earned a double degree in journalism and government and politics, and a minor in rhetoric. I am a very proud Terp - I was in the Greek system, student government, interned on Capitol Hill, wrote for entertainment blogs, copy edited for military magazines… I took full advantage of all there was to do in the Metro DC area, and I loved my time there!
I always knew that I would make my way back to Montgomery County, though. My first job out of college was right here in the Perkiomen Valley - as the outreach coordinator for a State Representative. I had a great time meeting business leaders, community officials and residents. I went on to work in politics in Montgomery County. It has been four years, and I am now very excited to get back to full-time writing and reporting!
Saying that I worked in politics (the Republican Party, to be exact) may strike a nerve with some readers - but I wanted to put it out there. While my previous experience is a part of me, I have a journalistic commitment to report the news objectively, and that is exactly what I will do. Over my past few months freelancing, I've learned how nice it is to completely remove politics from my job, after being entrenched in it for far too long!
I am always open to your story ideas, suggestions and criticisms. Please never hesitate to contact me at 484-684-4590 or at Brittany.Tressler@patch.com.
I look forward to meeting you around town!
Britt
