Community Update

I went to visit an inmate at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on Sunday at 12:30 pm. I have been visiting here for the last 3 months. On Sunday, the Correctional Officer told me to stand to the side after I went through security. My husband had already passed though and was seated in the waiting room. I was approached by another CO and was accused of having drugs in my shoes. I offered to take them off and he could run them through security or check them himself. Then he asked me what was under my shoes in the tray that runs through security. I told him my watch and my ID card. He asked me if I had keys with my shoes. I had totally forgot and said they were not keys but a key fob. The woman CO started screaming at me and told me that she had warned me once. I honestly had totally forgot because I always keep my keys fob with me. I immediately offered to lock it up in the lockers. The woman CO continued to scream at me. Again I offered to lock the key fob. She continued to scream. The other people in the lobby and waiting room were appalled by this CO's behavior. They literally surrounded me and hugged me. I asked my for my ID card back and she screamed me that I would have to re-apply in 30 days. At that point I cried and the people waiting told me that this woman was very rude to everyone. I had seen her before yelling at elderly people. I have contacted the prison and talked to the warden's secretary. She was very sympathetic and kind. She told me that I would have to talk to a particular major to see what could be done. So far, no one has returned my calls. let me say that there are other CO's that also work in this area and they are always respectful and kind. We pay this woman's salary with our taxes! I do not believe that she should be dealing with the public. Let me finish by stating that I am a 59 year old woman. I work for the homeless in Philadelphia and also and orphanage in Cairo, Egypt. I have never created any problems in this facility and I am a respected member of my community where I have lived the last 50 of my 59 years. Can someone please help me?
