MontCo Commercial, Office Construction Increased in 2012

According to Montgomery County planners, five of the top ten developments of 2012 were hotels in some of the county's important employment centers.

Nonresidential construction in 2012 nearly doubled over the previous year, particularly regarding new office and commercial space, according to Montgomery County officials.

“We like to see the numbers going up, almost double those in 2011. We’re hoping this is a sign of a positive trend moving forward,” said Commissioner Leslie Richards.

Five of the top ten developments in 2012 were hotels in some of the county’s important employment centers, which principal planner Scott France called a “promising sign.”
