LONGHORNS QUALIFY FOR POP WARNER PLAYOFFS!!!

Valley Forge: "When a team plays together and everyone participates in the win, it is a lot of fun and a great day", said Head Coach Zach Santangelo. The Longhorns 105 Pound Silver team kept it rolling with a 20-0 victory over the host, Conestoga Generals.  With the win, the Longhorns (4-1) have qualified for the Pop Warner playoffs!

On a gorgeous fall afternoon, the Longhorns left little doubt about the outcome of this game after receiving the opening kickoff.  The offense, led by quarterback Kevin Beattie, had a stellar day with three first half touchdowns.  Utilizing multiple formations and fast tempo, the Longhorns' offense proved to be too much as the Longhorns scored on three consecutive drives.  Michael Goodwin was the day’s touchdown leader with two rushing touchdowns along with fellow running back Isiah Wright, who recorded one touchdown.

The stout Longhorns defense did the rest, containing a potent Generals offense throughout the day.  The Longhorns' defense led by Dylan Crothers, stoned the Generals spread attack with multiple tackles for loss, fumbles, and multiple sacks.  Leading the day in tackles was Gil Williams from the strong safety position.  QB sacks were recorded by Michael Scaramuzzo (tackle), Kyle Krupa (end), Aiden Coulter(end), and Henry “Ashton” Canelo (end), along with fumble recoveries by James Petuznik (tackle) and Kyle Krupa.

In other games, the 80 Pound Black team won 12-0 over the Abington Raiders.  The 120 Pound team lost to Upper Merion 20-13 on a last second touchdown run.  The 70 Pound team remained undefeated in a matchup with unbeaten Lenape Valley, as the teams ended tied 6-6.
