One of the most popular flowers for bridal bouquets, calla lilies are available all year-round with peak seasons in Spring and Summer. Technically named Zantedeschia after the Italian botanist Francesco Zantedischi, calla lilies are also one of the more expensive wedding flowers. If they are a "must have" for a bride on a budget, I would limit them to their bouquet. Calla lilies come in white or green in the standard, larger sizes. The smaller ones can be found in white, pink, yellow, red, orange, lavender, purple, and mango. The stems are long and thick with a heart or spear-shaped spathe surrounding a yellow cylindrical spadix. Their distinctive shape makes them perfect for flowers that need to be noticed! In other words - perfect for a wedding.
