Bridal Blossoms - A Free Wedding and Party Flower Show

Whimsical Welcomes Floral Design will be displaying more than 20 centerpieces for parties and events at Duportail House on Sunday, April 21st from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Come join us!

I'm interrupting my usual wedding flower blog to explain an event that I have coming up. I am a former elementary school teacher who studied floral design after I retired.  I've been designing weddngs, parties, and events for 10 years and love every minute of it.  I make it a point to educate my brides about flowers and hope that they walk away from our experience with a lot more knowledge than they had before their wedding.  So when a bride came to me with a picture of a bouquet she wanted and I had to tell her that she couldn't have it because that flower was on the endangered species list - I realized it was time to reach out to more than just the brides that come to me for their wedding.  I combined my skills and Bridal Blossoms was born.

Bridal Blossoms is an educational forum about flowers.  I speak about how to save money on centerpieces and bouquets. How to choose your flowers wisely. How to work with a theme.  And I make a lot of samples of bouquets and centerpieces. I do this four times a year and each Bridal Blossoms is different.  This one is about themed weddings - vintage, rustic, retro, Victorian, and romantic.  I have designed more than 20 centerpieces and bouquets to display.  And although this is really not a typical bridal show, I have invited other vendors to suport my theme and share their knowledge.  If you're a bride - I have Studio 73 showing you how to wear vintage pieces in your hair.  There will be a vintage jewelry, purse, and linen show.  Want vintage or rustic photography?  Talk with Ron DLutz Photography.  How do you choose a venue that works with your theme.  Ask Wendy Hartigan, wedding planner.  Van Cleve Wedding Pavillion will show off their veils.

And this show is definitely not just for brides.  All of my centerpiece ideas can be used for a party in your home.  Need a venue for a party?  Check out Duportail House.  They have a barn, 1740 house, and a tent to use on the property.  Learn about an on-line linen service that can supply you with special party linens. Want to have a tea party or an retro cocktail party?  Local caterer Provence Catering will be there will lots of advice, ideas, and samples.  Learn about the latest make-up trends from Face the Occasion. Mile Hill Wicker and Gifts will be there to show you what they can rent to stage a wedding or party. Need a musician or a band to entertain?  Brandywine Valley Talent will be at our event represented by a classical guitarist. And if you enjoy making  DIY projects and want to try making your own invitations, placecars, or favors,  Chris Lauth will tell you how she can help you have a party to get the jobe done.
