Who Knew There Was a History of Knitting?

Whether knitting is your hobby or not, you will want to spend a Sunday afternoon at the Dewees Museum on August 10, 2014, to enjoy touring this historical site, munching on refreshments, and, yes, learning about the History of Knitting!
Manni McNeil, a young mother with a background in radio broadcasting and social media, is one of our enthusiastic and enterprising new volunteers.  She is a life-long crafter who knits, spins, and sews, and—in addition to telling about the History of Knitting—will tell you about how her grandma tricked her into knitting and how her mother and grandmother are genealogists who instilled an interest in history.  The hour-long presentation will begin at 1:30 P.M., followed by light refreshments, and thereafter free time to tour the Dewees Museum.
This Tea-at-the-Tavern program is free , but donations will be appreciated to help maintain our two historical sites.  RSVPs will be helpful so we can plan ahead, but not required.  Please leave a message at 610-489-7560.
The Dewees Museum is located at 301 W. Main Street in Trappe.  The Henry Muhlenberg House, just down the street at 201 W. Main Street, will also be open for tours if you wish to spend your free time there.  The two sites are maintained by The Historical Society of Trappe, Collegeville, Perkiomen Valley.  Please also visit our website for updates on scheduled events and recent happenings:  trappehistoricalsociety.org
