Collegeville Borough Council Race Could End in Coin Flip

Republican Arnold Mann and Democrat Andrea Baptiste both received 357 votes on Election Day.

Two candidates for Collegeville Borough Council each received 357 votes on Tuesday - marking a tie that could be answered with a coin flip after the official count by the Montgomery County Voter Services Department.

Arnold Mann, the board's Republican Finance Committee Chairman who has served on the board for two decades, and Democrat Andrea Baptiste, who served on the board from 2007-2012, could wait up to two weeks to see who will join Roderick Rees, Cathy Kernan and Rowan Keenan, who were the top vote-getters Tuesday,  at the swearing-in.  For the full election results, click here.

On Friday, the Montgomery County Board of Election will begin its official tabulation in Norristown, during which dozens of bipartisan volunteers will go through the voting machine tapes and absentee ballots to ensure the election results are official.

If no additional votes are found for Mann or Baptiste, a coin will be flipped to determine who wins on council.

The tie will determine if Kernen will serve as the board's lone Democrat; Terrie Stagliano, Louise Tulio and Hugh Braun, all Republicans, currently serve on the board and were not up for reelection.
