LPVRSA Rate Payer Wants Answers

I attended the Lower Perkiomen Valley Regional Sewer Authority meeting on Nov. 9, 2012, and quite frankly, I am appalled. I went to the meeting because I wanted to hear the other side of the Middle Interceptor argument, and listen to the Act 537 Plan Update. What I heard was arrogance and intentionally confusing answers.  I'm not an environmentalist, and I don't have any land directly affected by the plan.  What I do want is a fiscally responsible solution that is approved by all townships and the DEP, as required by PA code.  According to the DEP, in a letter from 2004 and available on the Lower Providence webpage, we have that.  However, that is not the plan being pursued by the LPVRSA, and we can't get an answer as to why that is.  We need straight answers from the authority on the following:

1. Is there a DEP approved 537 plan? As I stated, the answer is yes.  The authority did not give a straight answer to the resident who asked this question.  I found Mr. Fieo to be extremely rude toward the public when a resident started asking these questions. He, along with Solicitor Brant, cut off public comment while there were people waiting to speak.  I personally did not get a chance to speak because of this.

2. How much money has already been spent on proceeding with a plan NOT approved by the DEP? This is where these other townships should be outraged about rate hikes. Not that Lower Providence is a holdout. This money is already spent. They already spent money on an unapproved plan, and are continuing to investigate alternatives to an unapproved plan when an approved plan exists.  Why is that? If the LPVRSA wants to blame someone about rate hikes, blame themselves for what they've already done without DEP approval.

I would've liked answers to these at the meeting. A representative from Ursinus College attended with concerns about rate hikes.  I'm sure he would like to know these answers too, because then it'll be plain and simple where the blame lies. It's not with Lower Providence Township.

thanks for letting us know about this! I think we should all ask for a copy of their audit from when they started the construction of the entire Perkiomen Creek Interceptor- you want to see money spent! Then why might find out the real reason the rates keep going up. I heard their projection of cost was $20 some million... to date they have spent over $80 million!! And they haven't even started the middle section! Where did all that money go? And how could they have been so far off on their bidding? Are these the same people were suppose to trust now?

I heard they are actually PAYING a public relations firm to speak for them in the media.. but when their quoted in one of their 'confusing statements".. they deny it and say they were 'misquoted. . What's up with them spending rate payers money when it suits them but not to save the environment or a waterfront community? I wonder if Ursinus College knows that one of their students is representing them as not standing up for the environment? lpvrsa is sitting on 10's of millions of dollars- I bet they don't have to raise their rates- their just doing it now to try and make L.P look to blame.. haha , how can they blame LP when they haven't even started the construction of the MI yet?

if there is not enough development growth to pay for the interceptor without charging the rate payers. THEY SHOULDN'T BE BUILDING IT! AND WHAT ABOUT THE PRISON BEING CHARGED 10 MILLION DOLLAR TO HOOK UP.. WHO DO YOU THINK IS PAYING FOR THAT? TAX PAYERS!! SO WHY ISN'T EVERYONE YELLING ABOUT THAT?

The Lower Perkiomen Valley Regional Sewer Authority and its dealings with the effected residents of the Middle Interceptor project has been an incredible display of arrogance and disrespect. I have had my property TAKEN from me. that would be bad enough. Sometimes in the interest of being a part of a community we have to " take one for the team" .I can assure you , beginning with THE LPVRSA initial trespassing and leaving surveyors pins in live trees . sending letters of Taking from their solicitor Robet Brandt ON CHRISTMAS EVE!!!,My concern over blasting and its effect on my well .Upsetting our lives for nigh THREE years now. There has been a attitude of total disregard for our community and its effects on US personally and as a NEIGHBORHOOD.Robert FIEO Chairman and Robert Brandt lead the board and management around by the nose.IN MY OPINION!In closing i will say i have written the Attorney general office of Pa. and asked them to look into this TAKING of property that was NEVER approved as a route for installation of the Middle Interceptor.
