31 May - Join PA Photo Pursuits @ Eastern State Penitentiary
Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but was abandoned in 1971. It stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, this was the world’s first true “penitentiary,” a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of convicts. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America’s most notorious criminals, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and Al Capone. Opened in 1829, it quickly became the most famous prison in the world and more than 300 prisons in South America, Europe, Russia, China, Japan, and across the British Empire were all based on its plan. Get your creative juices flowing as we guide you through multiple opportunities to capture texture, shadows and light. We will also guide you in the use of High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography. Creative flash photography opportunities abound as well. Come join us on an exciting and fun trek through the carefully preserved ruins of ESP. LIMITED SPACES AVAIL
