Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce Holds Annual Meeting

Liz Scott--mother of Alex and vice president of outreach and communications for the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation-- addressed guests and members.

The Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce provided the following information:

Liz Scott of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation addressed Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce members at the 2011 annual meeting  Thursday, March 31,  at Spring-Ford Country Club in Royersford.

Scott--vice president of outreach and communications for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation--explained the journey of her daughter, Alex.  There was also a presentation of the donations collected from the PV Chamber’s Networking Walk-a-Thon held on March 10 at Fieldhouse.

Verizon representative Dan Reavy, director of external affairs, addressed members and guests. Reavy has been a member of the chamber for 15 years, and Verizon has sponsored the annual meeting for three years.

The Board of Directors also recognized Maureen Ruggiero as the recipient of the 2011 Marvin J. Lewis Community Service Award. Ruggiero was nominated by the members for her efforts in the community making a significant, positive impact upon life within the Perkiomen Valley.  She is the owner of .  Within the community, Ruggiero has served as the member and past president of the Montgomery County Funeral Directors Association, St. Eleanor Women’s Guild, Collegeville Community Club, PV Professional & Business Women.  Additionally, she has been a member and past vice president of Historical Society of Perkiomen Valley, founding member of Save the Speaker’s House, past chairperson and served many years on Trappe Zoning Hearing Board.  Ruggiero has been active in Trappe Community Day for many years. She has also been an active member of the PV Chamber since 1989.  She was honored by PA Funeral Directors Association for assisting with Hearts of Steel program in raising funds to erect a memorial to victims of 9/11 Flight 93 in Somerset County.

During the meeting, the Board of Directors were elected for a second term: Larry Hoak, State Farm Insurance; Dan Lejeune, Rivercrest Golf Club & Preserve; Jim Weaver, Perkiomen Valley School District. First Term:  Jenny Greenwald, Greenwald Flower & Plant Workshop and David Akers, Akers Consulting Group.  Newly appointed directors--David Binder, Pfizer and Cheryl Krieder, Phoenixville Hospital--were also acknowledged.

Trevor Hart, First Niagara, chairman of the board passed the gavel to new chairman Bruce Zanar, Motivational Marketing. Trevor Hart presented the Chairman’s Award to Michael Frederick, Wells Fargo Advisors, Collegeville, who has served more than nine years on the Board of Directors. Frederick has served in the capacity as chairman and past chairman for the past five years.
