This year the Trappe Community Day will be dedicated to the 300th Anniversary of Rev. Henry Melchior Muhlenberg's birth. He is often referred to as the father of the Lutheran Church in America. He was responsible for the establishment of Augustus Lutheran Church the oldest unchanged church in continuous use in the United States. Rev. Muhlenberg kept a daily diary while living in Trappe in the mid 1700's which has given Trappe the History that we value today.
