Wild Weather Fluctuations a Recipe for Potholes

The repeated freezing and thawing is making a mess of area roads.

This winter is only a few weeks old, but already its wild weather is taking a toll on the roads. 

In one 24-hour period last week, temperatures plunged a whopping 40 degrees. Those extreme temperature fluctuations combined with a good bit of precipitation all add up to one thing: potholes.

The potholes are particularly bad particularly early this year, The Philadelphia Inquirer said. It said PennDOT was working as quickly as possible to fix them.
