The alarm heard in the area at 2 p.m. on Monday was the semi-annual full-sound wail test of the Limerick Generating Station siren system.

Sirens are routinely tested at 2 p.m. on the first Monday of each month; full tests, including a long, high-pitched alarm are preformed in the months of June and December.

If the alarms are not sounded outside of the normal test times, residents are asked to tune into KYW1060, WNPV1440 or WNTP990, or Pottstown Community Television.
