Love Came After Valentine’s Day for Matt and Heather Montgomery

Patch asked our readers for love stories on Valentine's Day, and Heather Montgomery said she didn't have a Valentine in 2003, because her now-husband didn't want to be 'cliché.'

Heather Montgomery shared the story of her relationship with husband Matt, which started in Wisconsin after Valentine’s Day in 2003.

Heather and Matt Montgomery met at Northland Baptist Bible College in Dunbar, Wis., where they worked together cleaning the dining hall at least four nights per week. The pair quickly became best friends.

“We started dating just after Valentine’s Day in 2003,” Heather said.  “He waited until after because he thought it would be too cliché to ask me out on Valentine’s Day, but I was a little perturbed that he left me without a Valentine.”

Heather forgave Matt, though.

“He’s made every Valentine’s Day amazing since then,” Heather said.

They have been married for 6.5 years and Heather is “crazier about him now than I was back in college.”
