HISTORICAL SOCIETY INTRODUCES
"TEA IN THE TAVERN" SERIES
The Historical Society of Trappe, Collegeville, Perkiomen Valley is introducing an exciting series of events throughout 2013 designated as "Tea in the Tavern," which are being offered to the community as well as members.
The first in the series, which will evoke the interest of the most avid WWII history fans, will be a military history course, "Pearl Harbor and Aircraft Carrier Warfare," beginning on March 10th and continuing on March 17th. The Sunday presentations will be held at the Dewees Museum and Headquarters of the Society.
The course was created and will be presented by Ray Rossa, an instructor at Delaware and Montgomery County Community Colleges. He holds a Master of Arts in Psychology-Internship from West Chester University Counseling Center, West Chester University, West Chester, PA, and a Bachelor of Arts in General Arts and Sciences from The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA.
The desperate naval engagements fought during the early months of the Pacific war stemmed the flood of Japanese expansion. This PowerPoint presentation with narratives and graphics containing map-driven battle descriptions will explore the events, people, and tactics in detail.
Both presentations on March 10th and 17th will start at 1:30 P.M. with sign-in and light refreshments, with the course starting at 2:00 P.M.
Dewees Museum is located at 301 W. Main Street in Trappe, at the corner of Ridge Pike and Route 113. A donation is requested, which may be offered at the door. It will cover both presentations: $10.00 for members and $14.00 for non-members. Please make your reservations early at 610-489-7266 since there is limited parking and seating. Visit www.trappehistoricalsociety.org for information and updates on the Society’s "Tea in the Tavern" series.
