Schwenksville: Reward for Information about Vandalism
Borough seeking to end ongoing problem
A press release from Schwenksville Borough provided the following information:
Schwenksville Borough is offering a cash reward to any person(s) who provide reliable information resulting in the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for acts of graffiti vandalism and defacing public property within the borough.
Meadow Park has been particularly hard hit by graffiti problems.
There is a current commitment for a $500 reward, according to Mayor Joe Giunta.
"We will determine the payout on a case-by-case basis. We will fund the account with donations," Giunta wrote in an e-mail. "We are hoping more people will donate to this tax deductable cause."
Anyone with information about these acts can contact the Pennsylvania State Police Skippack Barracks -- 610-410-3835.

Instead of arresting and convicting these kids for vandalism, why not make an investment in them. There is a lack of viable realistic activities for the youth in Schwenksville. Instead of wasting money on shoddy workmanship i.e. the new street lining done in town. Instead invest in some kind of activity or community clubhouse for these kids. There are surely enough vacant spaces in town and I am sure that if you asked nicely, you may get use of them. Locking these kids up for vandalism isn't going to change the dilemma. These kids need positive influence in their lives. They need mentoring. I am not pointing fingers of course, there is just a lack of activity for someone in their teens and early twenties in this borough. I spend more hours on Main Street than any other business owner and I see all. I know who is who and what is what. Invest your funds in helping the situation and curbing the behavior as opposed to rewarding individuals for information. An idle mind is the Devil's Workshop, remember that. Help these vandals do something positive and fulfilling in life.

Does anyone, aside from these vandals, actually go to Meadow Park?

They should be responsible for their actions. Make them clean it up.
