PSP: Man Crashed Stolen Dirt Bike in Upper Frederick Township

After a Boyertown man sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash, police say he was driving a stolen dirt bike and was in possession of marijuana

 

Eric Erney, 29, faces charges relating to drug possession and vehicle theft after he collided a dirt bike into another vehicle at the intersection of Neiffer Road and Swamp Creek Road in Upper Frederick Township, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

Just before Noon on Sept. 16, Erney, of Boyertown, was traveling east on Swamp Creek Pike on a Yamaha XT 350N dirt bike. According to police, Erney ran a stop sign and was struck by a 2003 Acura RSX, driven by 49-year old Roberto Calderon of Perkiomenville, traveling North on Neiffer Road.

Erney sustained major injuries after being thrown from the bike, and was medevaced to Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia. Lower Frederick Regional Ambulance, Lower Frederick Fire Company and the Upper Frederick Fire Department and Fire Police assisted on the scene.

According to the PSP, an investigation revealed that the dirk bike Erney crashed was stolen from a location in Reading, and he was in possession of marijuana.

Charges are pending in the Magisterial District Court of Maurice H. Saylor.

Lower Frederick fire company was also on the incident
