Perkiomen Valley in Hurricane Irene's Wake (update at 10:44 p.m.)

We're not out of the woods yet.

Our plot of Pennsylvania has been battered a bit by the brunt of Hurricane Irene. Some residents have lost power, had their homes and streets flooded, seen trees and shrubs destroyed and businesses and schools have closed or called off activities.

Although the storm has "passed," its effects, including major flooding in areas around Perkiomen Creek, are still being felt in full force:

According to reports, Perkiomen Creek crested to its second-highest level in history. Waters have begun to recede.
