Penn Liberty Bank Presents $12K to Holy Cross Regional School

The funds will provide tuition assistance for families in need.

Penn Liberty Bank presented a $12,500 contribution to help defray tuition costs for families sending children to Holy Cross Regional Catholic School, formerly St. Eleanor School, on March 20.

“This will make a big impact in our school,” said Theresa Healy, principal of the Collegeville school.

The money was contributed to the school through the Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS) program, which provides tuition assistance for families in need.

“The commitment to catholic education [in this area] is so strong, and sometimes families need a little help,” said Healy. “We are able to provide that with these funds”

According to Bill Breslawski, finance council member and parent, this donation, along with a few other sources, can help roughly 20 families to send children to Holy Cross.

The donations are made through the the Pennsylvania Tax Credit Program allows corporations to receive tax credits by donating to education; Penn Liberty has given $300,000 to area schools this year through Chester, Montgomery and Delaware Counties, and the city of Philadelphia.

“We put our money back into the communities we serve,” said Tom Thunstrom, assistant vice president of the bank’s Limerick branch.
