Collegeville Italian Bakery Celebrates Expansion
Officials were on hand to cut the ribbon - and an over-sized loaf of bread - on Friday afternoon.
Local officials joined Collegeville Italian Bakery staff and customers to celebrate the new dining room addition, which will now let fans of the bustling deli enjoy their sandwiches on site.
Co-owners Patrizia and Steve Carcarey, a husband-and-wife team, started working to expand the deli in September, after Enterprise Rent-A-Car, formerly in the dining room space, moved across the Perkiomen Bridge into Collegeville.
“From the painters, to the tile, to the contractors – Patrizia and I appreciate everybody’s help to make our dream happen,” said Steve Carcarey, addressing the crowd.
State Senator John Rafferty and State Representative Mike Vereb were on hand to help cut the ribbon – and a loaf of bread – to celebrate the occasion. Trappe Mayor Connie Peck, Lower Providence Police Chief Bud Carroll, District Justice Cathleen Kelly Rebar and other officials were also on hand.
The dining area officially opened on Jan. 18, and has had a great reception this far.
“Our customers wanted it, so that’s why we did it,” Carcarey said.
Lou Mascaro, a customer, spoke highly of the Italian fare.
“We enjoy the Italian dishes they have – they do our catering at our office in Audubon,” Mascaro said.
In the near future, fans of the Collegeville Bakery catering will be able to enjoy some of their favorites in the restaurant.
According to Carcarey, they will start a “pasta of the day” feature next week, and will eventually offer a family-style dinner a few times per month.

Ate there the other night, for the first time in the new dining room. Nicely done, with a bunch of tables, a counter, some tvs, etc. As usual, a great sandwich, at a reasonable price, with friendly service.

Congratulations Giovanni, Pat and Steve,
We wish you the best with you new seating and dining experience. You do have the best bread in Montgomery County, we love it on our dinner table to enjoy with so many dishes. The Giovanni loaf and the Rye Bread are tops in our book. Sorry we couldn't be there for the grand opening but will see you when we get back. I see Senator Rafferty and State Rep. Mike Vereb did all the heavy lifting!
Sincerrely,
Rick and Arlene Brown

Just checked out new seating area for the first time. VERY nicely done. Food was great. Dining area was extremely neat & clean thanks mainly to 16-yr old Anthony who also took time to greet customers at each table & ask if they needed anything. Only suggestion for owners might be to ask their 7 yr old relative in dining room to please quiet down a bit so folks could enjoy their own meals & conversations.
