I see people all the time who leave their cars running. I tell them all the same thing. It is my public service announcement to let them know it only takes five seconds, that is right five seconds to steal a running car. So next time any one of you got to the store or gas station and want to leave your car running remember John the Barber told you it takes five seconds to steal a car that is running. Also remember this is not grand theft auto or auto theft, when you leave your car keys in the car as it runs, it is a charge of unlawful taking which is usually a probationary offense, so this guy who thought it was smart to leave his Olds Alero running while he ran into the Wawa. Well think again. Because the thief will most likely only get probation. And sadly the driver had to walk back to Norristown I am sure. I can't help but chuckle at the foolishness of motorists. I do not laugh in a menacing way, I laugh at the ignorance of people in today's society.

Sad comment on society when someone who committed a perfectly lawful act, leaving his car running while he goes in the Wa Wa, is almost made out to look as guilty as the one who took it..

it is more a comment to let people know that we are in a society where you can trust no one . It is foolish in these tough economic times to think that they will not become victims. There is common sense that would come into play at 1:30 in the morning. two kinds of people usually are out this late. Cops and criminals. Dont expect people of our country in the wee hours of the morning to do the right thing. Left to their own devices most people would fail in these situations.
