Bruce Springsteen at Ursinus College [PHOTOS]

A look at the artist's 1974 show in Helfferich Hall

Just before Time Magazine named Bruce Springsteen “Rock’s New Sensation” in 1975, the singer was touring college campuses in Pennsylvania, a short trip away from his home town in New Jersey – and one of the stops was Ursinus College in Collegeville.

The show, held on April 20 in Helfferich Hall, was performed when Springsteen’s career was uncertain, according to an authorized biography on the singer released in 2012.

In Peter Carlin’s book, “Bruce” the author states that the artist’s career was “crumbling,” and he was about to get dumped by his label in the summer of 1975, just before “Born to Run” was released in August, according to TheRecord.com

At the time of the show, Springsteen had released "Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J," which included "Blinded by the Light," "Spirit in the Night," "Lost in the Flood," and "For You," and "The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle," which featured "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)," and "The E Street Shuffle."
