Black Bear Caught in Blue Bell
A young black bear was caught in Blue Bell on Saturday and will be released back into the wild on Sunday.
A black bear, originally spotted by residents in Franconia Township, was caught on Saturday night in Blue Bell, according to NBC 10.
NBC 10 reported that the Pennsylvania Game Commission said the bear is a young male and was captured once before and released into Schyulkill County, but has made it was back to Montgomery County.
“The bear has been tranquilized and will be released into the wild on Sunday,” said the NBC 10 report.
Last week, Lower Frederick residents reported seeing a bear around the township, according to an e-mail to Perkiomen Valley Patch.
The message stated that one person saw a bear coming up from the Perkiomen Creek to Colonial Drive, and another person claimed to have seen a bear around Salford Station Road.
A comment from Nick Matregrano read: "He was seen walking along the creek behind the Firehouse in Schwenksville on Friday, then on Saturday I understand the Game Commission got him a little south of that area.I was told he had tags on ears, so they know where he came from. I am sure he is Bradford County by now."

I live in Blue Bell on Walton Rd and on Feb 8th (at 7;50 am) I saw a black bear. At first I thought it was my 100lb Bernese Mnt dog walking down our lane, but then I took another look and realized that what I was seeing was too big. I was definitly looking at a bear! No one believed me (why would a bear be in Blue Bell?)...until this story came out on the news this weekend.
