Rep. Schwartz Sworn into 5th Term in Congress
U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz (PA-13) was sworn in today to serve in her fifth term in Congress. In the 113th Congress, Schwartz will continue to serve as Vice Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee and will return to her seat on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
In being sworn in to her fifth term, Schwartz makes history by being the longest serving female Congressional member from Pennsylvania. The Congresswoman is the only woman serving in the Pennsylvania Delegation.
Schwartz is also a Co-Chair of the moderate New Democrat Coalition, as well as a Co-Chair of the Steering and Policy Committee, which sets the policy agenda for the minority.
“I am honored to continue representing the 13th Congressional District and to work on behalf of the families of Montgomery County and Northeast Philadelphia,” Schwartz said. “Our nation faces serious fiscal and economic challenges that require compromise and action to bring real solutions to the American people. I am committed to ensuring we grow our economy, strengthen our middle class, and meet our obligations to our seniors, our children and our future.”
