Pennsylvania Girlchoir December Performances
Mackenzie Confer from Maple Glen will be part of the many voices raised in song as the Pennsylvania Girlchoir performs in its annual Holiday Concert on Sunday, December 9, 2012. Performances, led by Music Director Vincent Metallo, will be at 3:30 and 6:00 pm at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill, 8855 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia. Tickets can be purchased online at PennsylvaniaGirlchoir.org.
Music Director Metallo noted that the concert is wonderful music, beautifully performed, and is very much a collaboration between the girls of different ages. Pennsylvania GIrlchoir is made up of five choirs, with singers progressing as they grow in age, skill, and maturity. As Metallo explained, "If I was in the audience, it's rewarding watching the youngest girls strive to be like the oldest girls, and how the mature sound empowers the younger girls." Each of the choirs will be performing challenging pieces from their repertoire, as well as the choirs combining in song. "It's a combination of being fun, challenging, motivating -- whether it be vocal or musically very challenging."
In addition to the Pennsylvania Girlchoir Holiday Concert on December 9, the Girlchoir will combine with the Keystone State Boychoir for its annual Holiday Concert on the Square on Sunday, December 16 at Church of the Holy Trinity, Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia at 5:00 pm. More information and tickets are online at PennsylvaniaGirlchoir.org.
