Brownie Troop 71091 Toy Drive for the Jerusalem Lutheran Food Pantry

Last year, the Jerusalem Lutheran Food Pantry lost their corporate sponsor who had previously provided toys/gifts for the 300+ children it services during the holidays. At that time, Brownie Troop 71091 stepped in to help ensure that each child would wake up with a gift or two under the tree. This year the need was even greater. Once again, Brownie Troop 71091 collected new/unwrapped toys for the Jerusalem Lutheran Food Pantry. The Pantry services over 500 local registered families, including 300 children. For many of these children, this is their only source of toys/gifts this holiday season. Brownie Troop 71091 distributed a total of 1000 fliers in several local neighborhoods, informing residents of the need for new toys/gifts for children of all ages: birth through 17 years old. They then collected all the donations, and on Monday, December 17th, they delivered their collection of gifts to the toy drive coordinator for the Food Pantry. Two candidates from Saint Mary’s confirmation class also assisted in this effort. Thanks to the enormous quantity of gifts collected by the Brownies, the toy drive was a huge success again this year.
